About Lobster Records

Lobster Records was established for fans and bands to experience high quality production of the best undiscovered artists. Our staff's satisfaction is to provide art that pleases the senses and informs the mind. As we believe most people are smart and true, we relate our label to this perspective where songwriting, musicianship and performance skills are displayed to best advantage. "If music be the food of love... then play on."

Steve Lubarsky began Lobster Records in the mid-90s with a 7" from local Santa Barbara band Bad Neighbor and a self-distributed CDEP of Lagwagon offshoot Buck Wild called Little Punch You In the Ear. Both are long out of print, but with the magic of digital distribution, who knows what the future holds! With the assistance of Fat Mike of NOFX and Fat Wreck Chords, we released our first full-length, Buck Wild's Beat Me Silly in 1996. In 1998 we had our "official" start, moving into the Lobster office a stone's throw from the beach in downtown Santa Barbara; the year saw releases from Whippersnapper, Jargon and Mock Orange. The rest of the story is reserved for VH1, when we're much, much older.
